Cathedral Peak & Gudu Falls Hike

First day will be an easy Gudu Falls hike. Second day will be for the tough vertical endeavour, Cathedral Peak hike!

This hiking weekend is not for beginners and certainly not for the fainthearted especially those that are afraid of heights. This is a hard trail with an altitude gain of 1500m done in a day. It is a strenuous hike with exposed scrambling sections where ropes maybe used to navigate these sections.

Cathedral peak is a freestanding peak in the Drakensberg mountains with an altitude of 3004m ASL with 360 degree views of the high berg.

On our first day of arrival (Friday) we will take on Gudu Falls (10km) in the Royal Natal National Park.

We leave Jozi on Friday early morning. We do the Cathedral hike on Saturday early morning and back to Jozi on Sunday.

PACKAGE 1 COST:

R3500 (Incl Guide’s fees, Park fees, 2 x night Dorm accommodation, Ropes and First Aid Kit). Excludes Breakfast and Transport.

PACKAGE 2 COST:

R4100 (includes transport from Joburg, Guide’s fees, Park fees, 2 x night Dorm accommodation, Ropes and First Aid Kit). Excludes. Breakfast.

TRANSPORT:

Available for the first 7 entries.

Cathedral Peak 20km & Gudu 10km.

FITNESS LEVEL:

Very Fit. Not for beginners!

ACCOMMODATION TYPE:

Dorm at a beautiful backpackers Lodge.

TO BRING:

Warm clothing, Decent hiking boots, hiking sticks, sunscreen, hats, water and more water.

DRIVING DISTANCE FROM JOBURG:

400km about 4hrs drive.
