Dragon’s Tail – Via Ferrata: Drakensberg.

The Tallest, Epic and the Wildest Via Ferrata in Southern Africa..

FRIDAY:

We leave Joburg midmorning or any reasonable time for a 4hr drive to Amphitheater Backpackers, Bergville where we will spend our Friday night. We will have the briefing in the evening, and retire early for an early start the following day.

SATURDAY:

Climbing Day: We will leave early at 5:00am for a 1hr30mins drive to our destination, Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge, where we will catch a Shuttle to the trailhead (1hr drive) at Sentinel Carpark to start our hike to the start of the Via Ferrata climb. After the Via Ferrata climb we will hike back to the start to catch the shuttle back to Witsieshoek Lodge, and drive back 1hr30mins to our lodge at Amphitheater Backpackers.

SUNDAY:

We leave back to JHB/PTA after checking out at 10am.

FOOD:

Dinner is included for your entire weekend’s adventure. Excludes breakfast and refreshments.

Via Ferrata & hike14km IN & OUT hike.

FITNESS LEVEL:
Reasonable fitness is needed. This is not for BEGINNERS & the FAINTHEARTED.

ACCOMMODATION:
We all stay at Amphitheatre Backpackers. Private rooms can be arranged at the same Lodge and you will pay extra. We also have other accommodation recommendations in the area upon request.

TO BRING:
Warm clothing, water, comfortable hiking shoes, cameras, hiking sticks, wet jackets, extra pair of socks, extra pair of hiking shoes in case it rains on our first hike..etc.

DRIVING DISTANCE FROM JOBURG:

330km about 3 -4hrs drive.
