On a tented camp full of dust and chaos from the diggings, prominent residents came together, formed a committee to raise funds for the first Library. In 1890 a subscription Library opened its doors with its first books
ordered from London and the committee was its first Librarians. Today we call this library the Joburg City Library.
We are pleased to let you know that we are starting tours to this awesome gem of Joburg.
The tour will start with a walk from The Rand Club to the Library which will provide the opportunity to check out the beautiful architecture Joburg has e.g The Corner House and others.
This tour is a great family outing.
