Hike Tugela Gorge and Amphitheatre – Drakensberg

Summary

Hike the iconic Sani Pass. The mother of all mountain passes in South Africa.

This is the highest pass in South Africa at 2876m above sea level which is 9400ft just 600ft short from the cabin pressured 10000ft.

We start this hike at the SA border with Lesotho as early as possible. Our hike up the pass will be 8km long and whilst at the top we will have lunch and hot drinks at the Highest Pub in Africa. The duration going up the pass will be 3-4hrs that’s if we make it to the top depending on the weather conditions. We head back down to the SA border just after lunch.

If you are lucky in winter, you are more likely to catch some snow.

This is a ‘MUST’ do! One of the many hikes that we will be doing in the Drakensberg.
